Here at Dance With Us Ottawa we recognize the sacrifices that this couple has gone through to make their dreams come true. We see this all the time with our own students and their families. Just like this mother- our “Dance Mom’s” -and Dads- are there for our own competitors every step of the way. If you have not yet seen the wonderful and inspirational documentary, Dance For Me, about two young competitors who are paired for competition, then it is a must see!
In an earlier blog we showcased false eyelash application for ballroom competitions and it was a big hit! Who knew that this was such an interesting subject to so many? Dance For Me is a must see for all who would like to look beyond the false eyelashes, glitz and glamour and find out what truly goes on behind the scenes to make ballroom magic. We hope that you will be as inspired as we were!
Professional ballroom dancing is very big in little Denmark. Since success in this intensely competitive art depends on finding the right partner, aspiring Danish dancers often look beyond their borders to find their matches. In Dance for Me, 15-year-old Russian performer Egor leaves home and family to team up with 14-year-old Mie, one of Denmark’s most promising young dancers. Strikingly different, Egor and Mie bond over their passion for Latin dance — and for winning. As they head to the championships, so much is at stake: emotional bonds, career and the future. Dance for Me is a poetic coming-of-age story, with a global twist and thrilling dance moves.
